Are You Committed?May 10, 2023
My business wasn't going the way I wanted, I wasn't making the money I wanted.
I was frustrated. I wanted better results; I knew I was capable of so much more than what I was giving yet I wasn't putting myself into it.
I'd wake up almost every day with the best of intentions. Some days I'd follow through on the commitments I set for myself, other days I'd fall short.
Then I learned the power of leverage. A coach I was working with at the time taught me this idea of putting something on the line. If I truly wanted to change my life like I was saying I did, why not put something on the line that hurts enough you'll do it?
I thought about it and loved the idea. I did want to change. I wasn't just saying it for the sake of saying it. So we came up with my next 90 day plan.
In my financial business a big part of my success at that point was based on how many people I talked to per day and how many new people I was meeting, getting new prospects.
The plan was simple. I would contact 10 or more people a day and I would meet 2 or more new people a day, everyday Monday to Friday.
Although there had been many days I'd done this before, I had never strung it all together consistently over an extended period of time.
This time was different though, this time I wasn't just saying I was going to do it and having no leverage.
My wife and I had been wanting to stay at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, if you've seen it, you know why. If you've never been then make sure to put it on your bucket list. It is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world in my opinion. Of all the hotels and places I've stayed at, it is still one of my top 3 places I would go.
So, we had never stayed there, it was too expensive. We weren't making enough money. But we always dreamed one day we would.
I knew if I really gave the best of myself over this 90 days that my life would change and so would my income. So, the commitment was simple.
As long as I did my 10 contacts a day and 2 new prospects a day, then we would go there the month after that and stay for 3 days. A dream trip!
Here was the catch, I had to tell Tiffany that we were going to go and that IF I MISSED EVEN ONE DAY of my commitment, we didn't get to go.
I have to tell you that was INCREDIBLE for the power that gave me to never miss a day. There was no way I was going to let my wife down with this. So I hit my commitment every single day.
Now it's your turn.
What is that commitment for you? What's something you've been wanting to commit to leveling up in but haven't been following through?
What could you put on the line to make sure you follow through no matter what?
Have you been wanting to get better at social media?
